Yang Hansen Shines in Trail Blazers’ Summer League Victory Over Pelicans

Chinese rookie center Yang Hansen delivered a standout performance for the Portland Trail Blazers in their 93-87 NBA Summer League win against the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday. The 7-foot-1 athlete scored 15 points, including three three-pointers, while adding three rebounds, two assists, and two blocks in a game that highlighted his growing versatility.

Yang opened the scoring with a three-pointer, setting the tone for Portland's early 14-4 lead. His defensive efforts against Pelicans center Yves Missi included a highlight-reel two-handed block, showcasing his adaptability on both ends of the court. Despite increased defensive attention from New Orleans' Derik Queen in the paint, Yang adjusted by facilitating plays for teammates Rayan Rupert and Caleb Love, who combined for 41 points.

Pelicans rookie Queen, drafted three spots ahead of Yang, posted 17 points and 10 rebounds, while seventh-pick Jeremiah Fears added 14 points. However, Portland's 35-point fourth quarter sealed the victory, with Yang's perimeter shooting and screen-setting proving pivotal.

The game marks Yang's highest-scoring performance since joining the Trail Blazers, offering Asian basketball fans and global scouts fresh evidence of China's emerging talent pipeline in professional sports.
