Theatre as a Bridge: ITI Leader Advocates Global Cultural Harmony

Lloyd Nyikadzino, Executive Council Member of the International Theatre Institute (ITI), underscored the unifying power of cultural exchange during the Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting in Beijing. Speaking to CGTN on Friday, Nyikadzino framed theater as a vital tool for fostering mutual understanding amid global diversity.

"No culture is at the periphery, and no culture is superior. We should live in harmony," he stated, rejecting hierarchical views of cultural value. Nyikadzino emphasized theater's unique capacity to bridge divides, calling it "one of the most important critical tools" for influencing both societies and individuals.

The ITI leader highlighted the need to celebrate cultural differences while seeking common ground. "Every culture is unique and different – we cannot be the same. But the issue is to find common ground, a place where we can exchange and interact," he explained. His remarks align with growing calls for cross-cultural collaboration in addressing global challenges.

The Beijing dialogue brought together representatives from multiple countries and regions to discuss cultural preservation and international cooperation.
