Young Brazilians Reveal Top Chinese Cities to Explore

As the 17th BRICS Summit approaches in Rio de Janeiro, young Brazilians studying Chinese culture are sharing their favorite destinations in the Chinese mainland. Students from the Confucius Institute at the Federal University of Bahia highlighted diverse attractions spanning history, nature, and urban energy.

Beijing: Where History Comes Alive

Biologist Francisco Sanches Gomes praised Beijing's iconic landmarks like the Temple of Heaven and the Forbidden City, calling them "gateways to understanding China's imperial legacy." He particularly recommended hiking the Great Wall to experience "both human achievement and natural beauty."

Guangxi: Nature's Masterpiece

Harpist Alice Emery expressed awe at the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region's karst landscapes and the Li River, describing them as "living Chinese paintings." Her social media posts about Guilin's misty peaks have already inspired friends to plan trips.

Xi'an: Cultural Crossroads

Graduate student Beatriz Gramacho Favero advocated for Xi'an, home to the Terracotta Warriors. "Walking through the Muslim Quarter feels like traveling the ancient Silk Road," she said, emphasizing the city's blend of Chinese and Central Asian influences.

These perspectives emerge as BRICS nations prepare to strengthen cultural and economic ties, with youth exchanges expected to feature prominently in summit discussions.
