Former television personality Yau Man Heung, widely known as Yoyo, is making waves in China's cultural sector with her innovative brand celebrating Hong Kong's unique identity. After leaving her media career, the entrepreneur has launched a line of products blending traditional Hong Kong aesthetics with modern design principles.
"Our goal is to create a bridge between Hong Kong's creative spirit and the vast opportunities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area," Yoyo told KhabarAsia. Her collections feature nostalgic motifs reimagined for contemporary consumers, from neon-lit street market patterns to reworked cha chaan teng (local diner) motifs.
The initiative comes as cultural integration accelerates in the Greater Bay Area, with over 1,200 Hong Kong design companies establishing mainland operations in 2023 alone. Yoyo's brand recently showcased at the Greater Bay Area Cultural Industries Expo, attracting attention from international buyers.
"This isn't just about commerce – it's about preserving our stories while embracing regional collaboration," Yoyo emphasized. Her team is developing educational workshops to nurture young designers across the Greater Bay Area cities.
