U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that American forces conducted airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated, "All planes are now outside of Iran airspace. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow."
Iranian officials, however, downplayed the impact. A senior Iranian state TV representative claimed materials had been relocated from the targeted sites prior to the strikes, suggesting minimal damage. This was corroborated by Nour News, which cited unnamed officials.
Qom Province’s crisis management team reported detecting hostile targets hours before sections of Fordow were hit, according to China Media Group. Meanwhile, a U.S. official anonymously confirmed to Reuters that B-2 bombers were deployed in the operation.
Reactions to the escalation were swift. Yemen’s Houthi official Mohamed al-Farah warned the strikes marked the "beginning" of broader conflict, per Al Jazeera. U.S. Congresswoman Sara Jacobs (D-CA) criticized the move on social media, calling it "unconstitutional" and a risk of "another endless war."
