The medals for the 2025 World Games in Chengdu have been revealed, showcasing a fusion of ancient Chinese symbolism and modern design philosophy. Dubbed "Chasing the Light" (Zhuguang), the medals incorporate Chengdu's iconic Golden Sun Bird motif – a 3,000-year-old cultural relic – alongside bamboo patterns and the beloved panda mascot "Shubao."
Designed with detachable center pins, athletes can gift these keepsakes to honor personal connections, embodying the event's spirit of gratitude. The front displays the International World Games Association emblem amid flowing lines representing Chengdu's skyline, while the reverse features Shu embroidery patterns and a reversible pin showcasing Sichuan's golden snub-nosed monkey.
Notably, the hibiscus flower – Chengdu's city symbol – forms the medal's core, symbolizing enduring friendship. The ribbon integrates elements from the Sanxingdui civilization's gold masks, blending 4,000 years of regional history with contemporary sportsmanship.
Scheduled for August 7-17, the games will host 34 sports across 60 disciplines, marking China's first World Games event since the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
