Xi, Tokayev Strengthen Ties with Multisectoral Cooperation Pact

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev oversaw the exchange of 27 cooperation documents in Astana on Monday, marking a significant expansion of bilateral collaboration. The agreements span trade facilitation, cross-border investment protocols, and joint scientific research initiatives – signaling strengthened economic alignment between Asia's second-largest economy and Central Asia's resource-rich nation.

The pact includes innovative customs clearance mechanisms to boost agricultural exports and streamlined visa processes to revive post-pandemic tourism flows. Technology transfer provisions in renewable energy and rare earth mineral processing aim to position both nations as green manufacturing hubs.

This development comes as Kazakhstan emerges as a key transit hub for China's Belt and Road Initiative, with bilateral trade reaching $41 billion in 2023. Analysts note the media cooperation component could enhance cultural exchanges, particularly through joint film productions and news agency partnerships.
